After qualifying in 1993 as a chartered surveyor, Dan worked in private practice for three years before recognising the emerging world of mobile telecoms.
In 2000, he set up his own company – Comms Solutions – predominately providing professional property advice to all the major mobile telecoms brands. A further market insight led to Comms Solutions providing highly bespoke architectural design to hide or disguise mobile communications equipment in everything from false chimneys to fake Victorian follies.
Dan’s instinct was spot on and within two years the company turnover had grown to £1.85m. In 2005, Comms was sold and he set up George Laurel & Partners offering specialist property advice and architectural design services to private clients and developers.
In 2010, Dan and Mark began to design a new product to replace the traditional coach bolt – taking a period of five years to carefully research, patent, prototype and test what has now become the Joyner Bolt – a range of revolutionary task specific spiked timber fixings.
Having nurtured the product for so long Dan is looking forward to having the benefits of Joyner Bolt recognised throughout the global building chain.
